About Immanuel OPC

Immanuel Orthodox Presbyterian Church - Sketch of BuildingImmanuel Orthodox Presbyterian Church was founded in 1945 in Bellmawr, New Jersey, a small town situated across the river from Philadelphia, Pa., just minutes from the Walt Whitman Bridge. It is a mature and stable congregation with considerable diversity. We have new converts, aged saints, young couples, many children and a broad racial spectrum as well.

Immanuel Church is joyfully grounded in the biblical doctrines of the Reformation. We believe the Bible is the Word of God and gather every Lord's Day, Sunday morning and evening, to hear the scriptures, pray, sing and worship together. We love music and consider it an important part of our Christ-centered worship. We trust God will be pleased to use music to engage our hearts and minds for his service and glory. We rejoice in the work of missions and in power of the gospel to transform our lives and those of our neighbors. We have a full complement of programs and activities to instruct and encourage all ages.

Statement of Church Purpose

CongregationSince we believe that Jesus Christ died, rose again and called a people for his praise and glory, Immanuel Presbyterian Church must be a God-serving and outward-reaching church. To this end we do covenant:

· To have God-oriented worship
· To be a prayerful people
· To live out our reformed theological teaching
· To be disciples who disciple others
· To be a soul winning church
· To educate adults, children and families according to God's word
· To train leaders
· To make our particular church visible in the community

What We Believe - Our Church - Our Denomination

The Session of Immanuel OPCBorn in 1936 out of the struggles between historic biblical Christianity and early 20th century theological liberalism, the Orthodox Presbyterian Church seeks to be faithful to the scriptures, the historic Presbyterian confessions (the Westminster Confession of Faith, and its Shorter and Larger Catechisms) and the legacy of the Protestant Reformation. We are a theologically conservative, Calvinistic church. We seek to honor God as the sovereign Lord of the universe. We preach Christ as the Son of God, the only Savior, who died for sinners. We seek to live obedient and joyful Christian lives through the power of Holy Spirit. We insist upon the absolute truth and authority of God's word, the Bible, and we invite you to join us in our worship, work and witness to the Glory of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
